Sometimes it Hurts
The original Sometimes it Hurts book was created by arts education company, Changing Relations, in 2021 through working with children and young people, some of whom had experienced domestic abuse, poverty, neglect and divorce.
In 2023, we worked with a further group of young people from primary and secondary schools in County Durham, together with an academic and creative team, to develop illustrations and creative activities linked to the six individual stories hosted on this website.

The resources comprise creative activities which explore and draw out the themes in the Sometimes it Hurts stories. They are intended to be used as a flexible set of tools to open up supportive conversations between professionals and young people who have experienced – or are experiencing – tricky things at home.
